Verify these instant wins

Smyths Treasure Hunt on Chimp Island is a dig-for-treasure competition: certain squares carry a prize, and you choose where to dig. So the fair way to run it is to keep the winning squares secret while it’s running - if they were public, people could dig straight to them. Nobody, including us, can move a prize once it’s set: we lock in a fingerprint of the whole map when the competition opens, and reveal the full map here the moment it closes so you can check it against that fingerprint.

  1. The map of which square wins which prize was fixed before any square could be dug, and its fingerprint published, so it can’t be changed.
  2. The winning squares stay hidden until the competition closes, so nobody can dig straight to a prize.

How you choose your square

There are no assigned ticket numbers here - you choose which square to dig. Your choice doesn’t decide anything on its own: whether a square holds treasure was fixed and fingerprinted before the map opened, and kept hidden while it’s running, so digging only reveals what was already there - it can’t change what’s under a square.

Because the winning squares stay hidden:

  • Nobody, not you and not us, can tell which squares hold treasure, so no one can dig straight to a prize.
  • The square you dig is yours the instant you dig it, and recorded straight away.
  • Every dug square appears in the competition’s entrants list, so the squares in play are public.

The full map, and the secret salt behind the fingerprint, are published here the moment the competition closes - so you can confirm the winning squares are exactly what was fixed at the start, and nothing was moved.

The prize map

Matches the opening commitment

The winning squares are hidden until the competition closes, so nobody can dig straight to a prize. What’s locked in is a fingerprint of the whole map, taken when the competition opened - so once the full map is revealed at close, you can confirm it’s exactly what was fixed at the start. 34 prize squares found so far.

Want to double-check it hasn’t changed? Here’s the technical proof

When the competition opened we took a fingerprint of the whole map: a SHA-256 code that changes completely if even one entry is altered.
